The "Executioner. Between the real and the fantastic", comes from a curious, the unusual, historic turning point in the function of the Gate: remained closed after the passage of the last duke of Ferrara, Cesare d'Este, who left the city in 1598 to transfer the court in Modena, in 1700 was turned into a slaughterhouse. It is probably at this moment that what was once one of the most prestigious ports of entry to the city, was popularly known as Hangman's House. Aided by the passage of time, the popular saying was amplified to be confused with a legend and the figure of the executioner and become real and tangible for all, and even today the place is commonly known as the Ferrara.
The works created by artists, Giulia Bonora, Duccio Boscoli, Enrica Riva Casentini and Denis, born in close relationship with the historical and architectural heritage of the Port / Hangman's House, to create a collective path that will tell this 'journey', this step and mysterious alchemy, which rotates around its name, through the emotions that artists will seek to live in different areas, immersing the viewer into a dimension in the balance between the medieval and science fiction, creating characters and bizarre incidents. The result is a world populated by surreal characters, where the need to exploit the symbolic value, to proceed to the figures, leads to mixing the real and the fantastic with the wonderful outcome of animals also due to real property is absolutely fantastic.
